Pensacola Debuts “Radiant Burst” Logo in Bold Rebrand

Step onto the streets of Pensacola and you’ll see it: a flash of color, lines that seem to leap off signs and banners. This is “Radiant Burst,” the city’s new logo, paired with the tagline “Where Florida Begins.” It doesn’t just sit there. It catches your eye, nudges your attention, and somehow feels alive — playful, confident, unmistakably Pensacola.

Look closer. The exclamation point at its center anchors a tangle of curves, arcs, and flares. Some swoop like wind across the bay. Others curl like ribbons caught mid-twirl. It’s not rigid. It’s energetic, unexpected, and surprisingly human in its movement. You can imagine it on a street banner, a website, even a coffee mug, and it still feels like it belongs.

Mayor D.C. Reeves described it as “a reflection of today and the path forward.” You’ll see it first on high-traffic streets and digital spaces, and over time across all city materials. It’s a slow reveal — a city letting its personality show piece by piece.

Pensacola has tried new faces before. In 2012, there was the “Emerald Wave” logo and tagline “Upside of Florida.” In 2019, the city seal returned with “Florida’s First & Future.” Now, Radiant Burst unifies all department logos and public-facing visuals, giving the city a cohesive, modern identity.

A good logo speaks without words. Radiant Burst does it quietly, subtly, but unmistakably. It carries energy, like Amazon’s smile logo, which suggests friendliness and motion in a single curve. Its simplicity and adaptability recall Google’s clean wordmark — recognizable everywhere, from a billboard to a browser tab.

The tagline “Where Florida Begins” links the city to history. It appeared in tourism campaigns in the 1970s and later in Jacksonville from 2003–2018. Pensacola is now seeking a trademark, claiming the phrase as its own while signaling ambition, geography, and local pride.

Radiant Burst doesn’t sit still. It leans, flares, and nudges. On a banner, a digital screen, a t-shirt, it feels alive — playful yet grounded, confident but inviting. It’s a wink, a spark, a handshake. It doesn’t just mark Pensacola; it gestures toward it. You catch the motion, and you understand: this is a city full of life, ready to be noticed.
