Sleep Token is a mysterious music project blending metal, post-rock, and ambient music, known for its anonymity and thematic depth. Created by an unknown entity referred to as “Vessel”, it emerged in the UK. The project is centered around the worship of an ancient deity, “Sleep”, and expresses themes of love, loss and longing.
Meaning and history
Their journey began in 2016 with the EP “One”, followed by “Two” in 2017, and a series of non-album singles. Their first studio album, “Sundowning”, was released in 2019 and was later accompanied by a deluxe version. The pandemic in 2020 led to canceled shows, but they bounced back with their second album, “This Place Will Become Your Tomb”, in 2021, which garnered chart success in the UK.
2023 saw the release of “Take Me Back To Eden”, marking a notable change in their production process. The album climbed high in the UK and German charts, and the band won the Best UK Artist at the Heavy Music Awards.
The band’s sound transcends genres, mixing rock with progressive rock, metalcore, indie, and ambient influences. Despite their rising popularity, Sleep Token maintains a message that nothing is permanent, cherishing the transient nature of life and art.

The emblem showcases a central arch with five radiating beams, evoking a rising sun or a beacon of light. This central icon is flanked by symmetrical, runic-inspired characters that spell out “Sleep Token”. The runes add an ancient, mystical quality, suggesting a connection to old-world symbols and hidden meanings.
