UiTM United Logo
UiTM United, based in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, is a professional football team. Established in 2008, they compete in the Malaysia M4 League. Known as “The Lion Troops,” the club plays its home games at the 10,000-seater UiTM Stadium. This club represents a dynamic presence in Malaysian football, showcasing emerging talent and contributing to the sport’s growth in the region.
Meaning and history
UiTM United Football Club, established in 2008, began its journey in Malaysian football by joining the Malaysia FAM League, the third-tier league, in 2009. Showing promising performance, the club secured third place in the 2012 Malaysia FAM League, which led to its promotion to the Malaysia Premier League, the second-tier league, in 2013. This promotion occurred as USM FC withdrew from the league due to financial issues.
A significant milestone was achieved on 25 July 2010, when UiTM United won the first edition of the IPT League tournament, dominating UKM FC with a 3-0 victory in the final. This match, held at the UiTM Stadium, saw goals from Amirizdwan Taj, Fahrul Razi, and an own goal by UKM FC’s Muhammed Suffian, with Fahrul Razi being named the man of the match.
In 2017, UiTM United marked another significant achievement by qualifying for the Malaysia Cup for the first time since its inception, becoming one of the five teams from the Malaysia Premier League to enter the prestigious competition.
The 2019 season brought further advancement for the club, as they secured the fifth spot in the league. However, a twist of fate led to their promotion to the Malaysia Super League in 2020. This was due to PKNS FC’s status change to a reserve team for Selangor FA, which allowed UiTM United to ascend to the nation’s top division league for the first time.
2008 – 2023
The logo depicts a shield bisected diagonally, with the upper left in yellow and the lower right in blue. Two white, mirrored lions, each brandishing a tail and mane full of motion, stand back-to-back in the center. Above them, three white soccer balls form a triangle. Beneath the lions, the bold, capitalized letters “UiTM FOOTBALL CLUB” are prominently displayed against a blue background. The border of the shield is lined with a thin yellow strip, adding a vibrant contrast to the overall design, which symbolizes strength, dynamism, and the club’s sporting spirit.
2023 – Today
This logo features a stylized lion’s head in a dynamic mix of yellow and purple, set against a navy blue shield with diagonal white stripes on the right side. The bold text “UiTM UNITED” crowns the top of the shield. In contrast to the previous logo, which showed two full-bodied lions and soccer balls, this design opts for a single lion, emphasizing focus and ferocity. The soccer ball, partially obscured by the lion, along with the sporty stripes, suggests movement and energy, aligning with the club’s dynamic approach to football.
