Formed in 2021, the Birmingham Stallions, under coach Skip Holtz, were champions of the USFL for two consecutive seasons, which merged with the XLF at the end of 2023 to form the new American Football League, the UFL.

Meaning and history

Birmingham Stallions Logo history

After the failed starts of the AAF, USFL, and XFL soccer leagues, it was decided to stop duplicating each other and create a common professional spring league, the United Football League, based on 4 USFL teams and 4 XFL teams. One of the four teams that joined the UFL as representatives of the USFL was the Birmingham Stallions, who have won the league championship twice since its inception in 2021.

The young team’s primary colors are crimson, gold, and white. The home field is Protective Stadium – the University of Alabama at Birmingham (ACC Conference) student-athlete stadium – which seats 47,100. And the Birmingham Stallions head coach is Skip Holtz, who is the only coach among all franchises to be with the same team for three consecutive seasons.

What is Birmingham Stallions?
Birmingham Stallions is the name of a young professional football club from Birmingham, Alabama, established in 2021, and playing in the United Football League, which started operating in 2024. The new United Football League professional league, founded on December 31, 2023, is the brainchild of the merger of two other spring leagues, the XLF and USFL.

By the way, the official UFL outfitter is the American sportswear brand Under Armour. It has obtained the rights to the league logo, teams, and access to UFL content platforms (social media and blogs). Under Armour is also the UFL’s licensed partner for fan gear. So the visual identity of all teams in the league is in order, and the Birmingham Stallions is no exception.

1983 – 1985

Birmingham Stallions Logo 1983

The original logo of the Birmingham Stallions Club, created in 1983, featured the gold contours of a stallion drawn inside an elegant red and white frame with the arched top part and accompanied by the lettering, executed in the uppercase of a bold serif typeface, written around the perimeter of the frame. The badge looked very stable and professional, evoking a sense of style and confidence.

2022 – Today

Birmingham Stallions Logo

The primary logo of the young football club from Alabama, Birmingham Stallions, is executed in the official colors of the team, crimson, gold, and white, which together create a very elegant and chic combination. The royal mood of the colors is balanced by the sharp strokes and contours of the logo elements: a contoured horse profile and a slanted uppercase lettering, written under it. Both the stallion and the inscription are directed to the right, symbolizing motion and speed.

Font and color

Birmingham Stallions Emblem

The bold italicized lettering from the primary logo of the Birmingham Stallions football club is set in a custom designer typeface with the narrowed extra-bold capitals slanted to the right. There are no commercial analogs for this font, yet it has somewhat in common with such types as Sonic, VTF Gladius, or Behover.

As for the color palette of the Birmingham Stallions visual identity, it is composed of an intense shade of crimson-red, medium-dark gold, and white, which together work as a symbol of quality and professionalism.
