The initial Philips emblem was launched in 1938, displaying a golden symbol with a circled lower edge. It showed a dark red round, containing three wavy bars, showing four stars. Two of them stood in the upper left and the other two were placed in the bottom right. The logo’s upper section featured a horizontally lengthened blue rectangle with white uppercase wording in a bold and slim typeface with no serifs. The tall letters exuded a sleek, contemporary, and convincing appearance.

In 1968, Philips underwent a redesign that introduced a fresh picture and logotype. This symbol, which served as a predecessor to the current one, featured a strong and straightforward sans-serif script in thick blue title case letters. The wordmark was positioned on a white backdrop, disposed of any decorative visual additions. The script used in the name caption reminded Town 50 Chic Black and Dazzle Unicase Bold.

In 2008, the Philips logo underwent refinement. The blue color was intensified to a brighter shade, and the letters were modified, getting narrower and thicker. The lower bar of the character “L” also received a subtle slanted cut.

The Philips uppercase wordmark is designed in a sans-serif typeface that features uniform characters. The symbol has remained mostly unchanged since the 1920s, with only minor modifications over the years.
For most of its history, Philips used a solid blue color for the logo. In 2008, it was updated with a brighter shade of blue, but the overall appearance stayed untouched.
