Galactic Empire Logo
The Galactic Empire (also referred to as the New Order, the First Galactic Empire, the Old Galactic Empire, Palpatine’s New Order, or more commonly just the Empire) was a galactic-wide state that replaced the previous galactic-wide state formation, the Galactic Republic. The first head of this state and its founder is considered to be Palpatine, the first Galactic Emperor and the last Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic (aka Sith Lord Darth Sidious).
Meaning and history
After about 25,000 years, the Galactic Republic descended into savage political chaos. It was put to an end by the relatively short but very large-scale and devastating Clone Wars (22-19 BC), the war of the Confederacy of Independent Systems against the Republic. Following the defeat of the CNS at Utapau, the death of General Grievous at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and A. Skywalker’s elimination of the Confederacy’s top leadership on Mustafar, then Supreme Chancellor Palpatine proclaimed himself Galactic Emperor and announced the transformation of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire.
After the Emperor’s death and the Sith extinction, factionalism gripped the Empire as it disintegrated into fiefdoms led by moffs, admirals, and generals, many of whom ignored the authority of Grand Vizier Mas Amedda in the capital and became warlords. The largest imperial remnant was publicly led by Grand Admiral Ray Sloan, and secretly ruled by Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax and his Shadow Council. Eventually, Rax seized control of the largest faction of the Imperial Fleet after Sloane’s removal from power and consequently became the acting Emperor through his new position as Imperial Counselor. Under Rax’s command, the Empire made its final stand at the Battle of Jakku in 5 PBY, ultimately losing to the New Republic. While several Imperial militia continued to resist, the Empire formally capitulated to the New Republic with the signing of the Galactic Accord.
What is Galactic Empire?
Galactic Empire is a term from the Star Wars universe, the fascist galactic government that replaced the Galactic Republic after the Clone Wars. The Empire, also known as the New Order, was founded and ruled by Galactic Emperor Shiv Palpatine, who was secretly actually Dark Lord Darth Sidious of the Sith at the end of the Clone Wars.
In terms of visual identity, the Imperial six-pointed symbol was a modified Bendu Galactic medallion, and the arrangement of the spokes resembled a slightly modified version of the Galactic Republic crest from the time of the Clone Wars. It was used on many things in the Empire, from uniforms and starships to flags and propaganda posters.
The Logo
The symbol of Bendu was a circle connected by eight spokes, which symbolized the unification of the Galaxy by Force. For monks who studied numerology, the number eight was of great significance.
The symbol of the Galactic Republic was the eight-pointed somewhat modified symbol of Bendu. It was widely used, appearing on soldiers’ armor, on troop vehicles and guns, and on propaganda posters.
And the symbol of the Galactic Empire became an even more modified Bendu crest, with enlarged black areas.
Font and color
The Galactic Empire flag has no lettering on it, hence there is no official typeface here. As for the color palette of this logo, it is based on the combination of black and white; which is not only the most powerful contrasting duo but also a perfect graphical representation of the eternal battle of evil and goodness, of darkness and light.
