Google Meet Logo
Google Meet is the name of a free video conference service from Google, launched in 2017. The service is very similar to Zoom, and some other apps of this kind, but provides more security and more stable features.
Meaning and history
Google Meet is Google’s service for video calls and conferences. To use Google Meet, you need to have a personal or corporate Gmail account. You can use Google Meet online in your browser or download the app to your phone.
Google Meet, formerly Google Hangouts Meet, is a free tool for video conferencing. It was originally created for business, helping to organize corporate and business meetings in the online format. Now any user can create a meeting in Google Meet with a duration of up to an hour and the number of participants up to one hundred people. The peak of popularity came to the service with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
What is Google Meet?
Google Meet is a secure video conferencing service created in 2017 as Google Hangouts Meet. The service was mainly used by companies for business negotiations. In 2020, the service became free and available to all users.
In terms of visual identity, the Google service has one major redesign, which came after the complete rebranding of the app from Google Hangouts Meet into Google Meet, in 2020.
2017 – 2020
The original logo of the service was designed in 2017, with the launch of the Google Hangouts Meet service. It was a calm and strict badge, with the abstract video-cam image in white and gray, set over a dark turquoise dialogue bubble. The camera was visually divided into two horizontal parts, with the upper one in gray, and the bottom one — in white, casting a wide shadow on a bubble. More often the emblem was used on its own, but when the logotype was needed, it was written on the right from the image, in a medium-bold sans-serif typeface, with wide letters. The text part of the badge could be executed whether in black or calm gray color.
2020 – 2022
After the rebranding of the service, the new logo was created for Google Meets in 2020. This time it was a more vivid and delightful emblem, executed in the iconic corporate Google style, with the yellow, green, red, and blue color palette, and a delicate medium-gray “Meet” lettering complementing the image.
The new Google Meet emblem features a stylized camera contour, facing to the right, and with its upper left corner cut diagonally. Red is the color used for that triangular corner, and green is the shade used for the largest part of the emblem.
2022 – Today
On August 11, 2022, Google Duo and Google Meet were integrated. In due course, the Google Duo application is slated to supplant the initial Google Meet application. Concurrently, a refreshed emblem was introduced for the latter. The merger signifies Google’s vision to consolidate and refine their communication tools, ensuring users have a seamless experience. This strategic move underlines the tech giant’s commitment to streamlining its offerings, adapting to the evolving needs of its user base, and staying ahead in the dynamic world of digital communication. The revamped logo represents this evolution, symbolizing a new chapter in their journey.
