The PGA Tour stands for professional golf competitions held in the United States. Golf is not governed by the PGA Tour, though, as it is only responsible for organizing the competition events. Throughout the year, the top golfers in the world compete for the title of the best player. There are no rules in the organization that forbid women from playing on the PGA Tour, unlike several other major sports. All that is required to compete in PGA Tour events is qualification. The PGA Tour features a significant humanitarian and community service component, which frequently reflects the venue’s level of philanthropy.

Meaning and History

The PGA Tour (as it is known now) has been independent of the Professional Golf Association of America (often known as the PGA of America) since 1968. The Association of Professional Golfers (APG) was a new organization founded by independent players. Soon after, the players made the decision to dissolve the APG and establish the PGA Tour, a player organization run by ten directors. In 1975, the present name was formally adopted. It became well-known fairly quickly and is currently among the biggest and most prominent golf circuits worldwide.

PGA Tour Logo

In the center of the PGA Tour logo is a stylized depiction of a golfer silhouette in mid-swing. This dynamic pose captures the motion and energy of the sport. The golfer is done in white and placed on the right side of a vertical rectangular base with rounded corners.  Across the upper half, there is a white inscription that says “PGA” followed by “Tour” printed vertically in red. The designer used a bold font with bracketed serifs and all caps. A white frame that is indented inwards to create a double-line effect. The overall design aims to convey excitement, athleticism, and the prestige of professional golf.
