Meaning and History
Lamborghini, an emblematic name in the world of luxury sports cars, has a riveting history. Originating in 1963 in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, it was founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini. Initially, Ferruccio’s enterprise, Lamborghini Trattori, manufactured tractors, but after a dispute with Enzo Ferrari, he was inspired to create automobiles to rival Ferrari’s.
The company’s maiden car, the Lamborghini 350 GT, debuted in 1964. By the late 60s, models like the Miura raised the brand’s global prestige. However, the 1973 oil crisis hit Lamborghini’s finances hard. In 1974, Ferruccio sold his shares, marking the start of a series of ownership changes.
Over the years, Lamborghini passed through several hands, including the Swiss-based Mimran brothers in the 1980s, who later sold it to Chrysler in 1987. Despite the Diablo’s success under Chrysler’s wing, by the mid-90s, they transferred the ownership to Indonesian investment group Mycom Setdco and V’Power Corporation.
In 1998, Lamborghini found stable ground when the Volkswagen Group acquired it, placing it under the Audi AG division. Under this robust leadership, the brand launched iconic models like the Gallardo and the Aventador, solidifying its reputation in the supercar segment.
Today, as a subsidiary of Audi AG, Lamborghini continues its legacy of producing avant-garde, high-performance vehicles, marrying Italian craftsmanship with modern technology.

The first Lamborghini logo appeared in 1952 and lasted 10 years. It was a triangle, which was divided into 3 parts inside. In each part, 3 letters F-L-C were located clockwise.

The emblem was slightly changed in color until it received the final version — a golden fighting bull on a black background.
Afterwards, all logos were connected with the image of bull. The founder of the brand was a Taurus by horoscope and a big fan of bullfighting. The businessman believed that the image of the zodiac symbol would bring him good luck, and also demonstrate the power of the brand’s sports cars. In addition, the founder of the company was a long-time fan of bullfighting. These two facts formed the basis of the brand’s logo.
